a walk with ma jane

i’ve submitted to the commonwealth short story prize twice. i wrote for it three times but didn’t finish the drafting process for one.

i wrote a walk with ma jane for my fiction class short assignment. i got like a B on it.

the assignment was assigned around the time of the commonwealth short story prize and i decided to submit it with minor edits because the waiting for the “final draft” kept me from submitting the last time i drafted something. aiming for perfection and never reaching it and therefore never doing anything is a serious serious flaw of mines.

after months and months of waiting i got an email and I WAS OFFICIALLY LONGLISTED for the Caribbean. astounded. i’m so insanely proud of myself and this little story i wrote inspired by Bahamian culture and folklore.

i don’t wanna say too much or even post it on my here because i’m finally convinced that i can be published.

but a walk with ma jane is looking for a home. fingers crossed i find it!
