Poetry

Vanitas Still Life by Jan van Kessel the Elder, Courtesy National Gallery of Art, Washington

mouthy is what I am experimentally going to call a ‘triplet’. A collection of three prose poems written in Bahamian dialect that center around a common topic.

mouthy is comprised of sweet tooth, sour tongue, and mouth wash which mash mother, father, and gender issues into a wider spread analogy about dental hygiene. Somehow the two mashed together in a way I couldn’t expect and it only seemed right after it was written.

You can read sweet tooth, sour tongue, and mouth wash in Issue 4 of Arrival Magazine!
